From the recording The Good Life
Lyrics
It feels like the world is upside down
Hanging on by a few frayed threads
And it's clear that the cosmic clock o' judgement
Ain't makin' any brand new friends
As a chasm grows both wide and deep
Between honesty and depravity
Gotta make sure I am on the right side
To help this world keep it's sanity
It's gotten easier to cover the earth
With the worship of trivialities
And the moral gems like diadems
I treasure for their sanctity
And in times like these, it crushes me
That so many hearts could be so cold
And I wanna scream as I beg and plead
For every heart to shine like gold
I am the only one with integrity
Where the good Lord put me here today?
I wanna believe in us at the speed of trust
Though so many are runnin' fast the other way
But right here right now
My integrity can show the way
In the word of God, I notice a lot
Of the same things I see goin' on today
The ebb and flow of decay and growth
As people line up at each doorway
And I try my best to fly above the rest
Lifting others as I go
And it hurts to see, in times like these
When so many choose to stay below
I am the only one with integrity
Where the good Lord put me here today?
I wanna believe in us at the speed of trust
Though so many are runnin' fast the other way
But right here right now
My integrity can show the way
It often feels like the right choice
Is the hardest one for us to make
But the sacrifice, it is worth the price
To have peace at the end of the day
So I stick to the Lord, let goodness prevail
May my works measure up to my words
So when things get rough
And life is just tough
I'll have Christ-centered confidence that I can say
I am someone with integrity
Where the good Lord put me here today
I wanna believe in us at the speed of trust
Though so many are runnin' fast the other way
But right here right now
My integrity can show the way
